For queries relating either to the coastal monitoring data contained within this website, or the condition of any of the Authority’s coastal structures, you will need to contact an engineer from within the Infrastructure Projects Department of the Civil Engineering Services Section of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Q. I'm thinking of buying a home near to the coast. How can I find out what the erosion rate is?

A. This information can be found in a number of ways,

1/ Via this web site using either the map tools contained within the interactive map pages, or access the Coastal Information Pack from the Documentation page and download the coastal erosion data tables contained within section 6.
2/ Request a copy of the Coastal Information Pack which contains the coastal erosion data tables.
3/ Contact and speak directly to an engineer from within the Infrastructure Projects Department.

Q. Who do I contact if I wish to report damage to a coastal footpath?

A. For all issues relating to the use or maintenance of footpaths you will need to contact a countryside access officer.

Q. Who do I contact if I wish to enquire about the closure or continued use of a cliff top road?

A. Decisions relating to safety and continued use of roads or other infrastructure that may be affected by coastal erosion are made by the Infrastructure Projects Department.

A. Road closure works and the maintenance of such signs and barriers that this may require is the responsibility of Streetscene services (highway services).

Q. Who do I contact if I wish to report a dangerous cliff top building?

A. To report cliff erosion damage to a private house or other such building you should contact either an officer from the Building Control Department or an engineer from within the Infrastructure Projects Department.
